Volleyball Libero Tip 1 – Develop Footwork and Body Movement. Goal: As a Libero, you need to cover the entire back row on-court with your quick movement. You have to bend, stretch, kneel and fall to reach the ball before it touches the ground.
If one or both feet is touching, or in front of the attack line, the Libero may only bump set the ball so that the play that the Hitter makes is legal. A skilled Libero can set the ball on one leg with the other foot in the air, over the line, but not physically touching it, making it a legal move for the Hitter to attack the ball without a fault.

5. The libero is not allowed to serve. This is a rule that depends on the league that you’re in. By FIVB rules, the libero can’t serve, but in the USA most leagues allow the libero to serve in one rotational position. There’s a section below that goes into more detail on the libero service. 6. The libero can replace any back-row player.
The libero remains in the game at all times and is the only player who is not limited by the regular rules of rotation. The libero usually replaces the middle blocker position when that player rotates to the back row, but the libero never rotates to the front row.

The libero will play either middle back or left back for their team’s middle blockers. This libero will serve in place of the weaker middle blocker. Liberos should pass more than anyone else. When the ball is between another player and a libero, the libero is generally the one you want to take it.
Libero players should include volleyball pepper drills in their training program as well. In fact, there are volleyball pepper drills of different types: Two Way Pepper, 4 x 2 Pepper Drill, Volleyball – 2 Player Pepper Drill Multiple Hits, Triangle Pepper Drill – Over the Net and Over the Net Pepper Drill.
